9 BEST WAYS TO INCREASE HUMIDITY FOR PLANTS

PLANT CARE 101

If you want your plant to thrive, try to recreate the surroundings your plant is native to.

For some plant species you may have to increase the humidity.

Most indoor plants do well in a humidity range of 40% to 60%.

Tropical plants such as Monstera deliciosa prefer a humidity level of 60% to 80%.

Here are the 9 best ways to increase humidity for your plants:

Arrow

1. Use a humidifier. Humidifiers are the most consistent way to increase humidity. Many humidifiers have adjustable levels.

2. Place your plants in the bathroom, kitchen, or laundry room. These are naturally humid areas in your home and your plants could do well there!

3. Place your plant in a terrarium, greenhouse, or cloche. Enclosed plants will retain more moisture because it won't escape into the air.

4. Create a microclimate by grouping plants. Did you know that plants will create a bubble of humidity when close together?

5. Use an evaporation pebble tray. The water in the tray will evaporate around the plant, increasing humidity.

6. Double pot your plants. In the outer pot place water or moistened moss.

7. Cover the top soil with hydrated sphagnum moss. If you cover the top soil, the water in the soil will evaporate slower. Your plant will stay hydrated longer!

8. Hang clothes to dry nearby! If you are a hang dryer, place your plants close by. The plants will absorb the evaporating water.

9. Mist your plants. You will have to mist your plants regularly for this to work. We recommend using a mister that aerosolizes water. Fine mist hair spray bottles are great for this!
